RYK Modular 100M modules: creative art!

… there are moments when you wish you had a bank account with no limits. All the beautiful – and truely interesting – instruments that appear on the market… it’s a disaster. Vintage synth enthusiasts are particularly affected when they see 100M modules from RYK Modular. What exquisite pieces, what well-designed, aesthetic tools for creative sound exploration.

The latest module is the M114 COMPLEX OSCILLATOR BANK. Four oscillators, serial or parallel, in stereo, with chorus. For FM sounds and that slightly different sound on what we believe to be the most sonically inspiring modular system (100M) Roland has ever built.

The following two modules are somewhat older. M175 TRIPLE RESONATOR brings the (in this case monophonic) sounds of the Korg PS-3100 into the Roland system. It is also very flexible, as all three filters can be used for separate audio paths …

The fact that the design and hardware as a whole have been so accurately replicated and modeled on Roland’s high standards of the late 70s/early 80s is likely another reason for the envious admiration (and listening) of these modules…

The M185 sequencer should be mentioned as “old hat.” A good hat, one that has quality. The concept of the M185, with all its creative possibilities, is now available in 3U format for Eurorack users…no wonder, when you know about the genius of this sequencer.

And yes, besides the obvious question of why unlimited bank accounts are unfortunately not a reality—we would purchase several copies of all modules—there is also the question of which rack these beautiful components should be screwed into. Original Roland 100M cases, whether 190, 191, or 191J, are usually filled with the corresponding original modules…

All that remains is to express a small wish: May RYK Modular continue to build its excellent Roland 100M modules, expand them with new ones, and – one day – offer matching 3-rack (190) or 5-rack (191J) units as accessories. Then life would be perfect …

All diesen (alten wie neuen) “großartigen” Instrumenten ist Great Synthesizers gewidmet. _________________________________________________________ In 2005 composer Arvo Pärt said: “Playing one tone really well is enough”. In other words, it is sufficient to play one tone 'beautifully'. I agree with that. All musical efforts are focused on the sound itself. Although I studied classical music (piano and drums), it’s the electronic sound that inspires me. Synthesizers are the epitome of new sounds and exciting tonal spheres. Today, many companies produce high-quality - excellent! - synthesizers: Doepfer, Cwejman, MacBeth, Moog, GRP, Synthesizers.com, COTK, Studio Electronics, John Bowen and others. It's their products I'm really interested in ... apart from Vintage Synthesizers, which I have been collecting for 20 years. Subsequent to our former websites Bluesynths and Blogasys, Peter Mahr and I have now created GreatSynthesizers. We hope you like it.
