This is a tool for creative musicians. With 64 (2×32) steps, the AS500-SEQ offers flexible step\/row combinations that break up the structural pattern logic of a classic sequencer. In addition, the eight rows run vertically, and while the 32-step generator on the left provides the main melody (just to name an example), the 32-step generator on the right can be used not only for alternative CV controls, but also for fill-in variations.<\/p>\n

\"Analogue<\/a><\/p>\n

As you would expect from Analogue Solutions, there are no bells and whistles here. MIDI, menus…? Sorry, no such thing. CV\/Gate, that’s what we offer. For incoming and outgoing signals, pure ANALOGUE. Gate-Out is available as GATE X or GATE Y, depending on the switch selection (per step), with two rhythmic tracks per sequencer unit.<\/p>\n

\"Analogue<\/a><\/p>\n

The only (minor) criticism: there is only one CV output per sequencer unit, CV A and CV B. That’s it. However, since it’s not uncommon to control at least two synthesizers at the same time, dual outputs would have been useful. Of course, you can get around this with a Y-connector or multiples, but there would have been enough space for a second jack in each case.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the AS500-SEQ – handmade in Great Britain – looks fantastic and impresses with its concept. The desktop step-sequencer costs \u00a3999 plus VAT and shipping.
