Some impressions of the beautiful MacBeth M5. Functionality, sound and design of this 3-VCO, 2-VCF synthesizer are worthy of discussion (mind you, this is “no” substitute for the classic ARP-2600!). Certainly, the design and construction of the Scottish noble synthesizer are very impressive. The semi-modular M5 / M5N was in production from approximately 2004 to 2007. Photos by Peter Mahr.
