Koma Elektronik Field Kit – Electro Acoustic Workstation

Definitely a nominee for the smallest electronic music studio in the world: The FIELD KIT ELECTRO ACOUSTIC WORKSTATION. Introduced onto the market some years ago, it’s a specialized tool for experimental sound processing. It features a range of signal inputs (with envelope follower, etc.) plus a dedicated 4 channel mixer, providing all sorts of sounds, noises and collages once you feed it with audio material. Plus there’s a CV-controllable radio signal (FM/AM/SW), for the extra-nostalgic flair.

Musique concrète is mentioned as an intellectual reference source. In this case, however, a small, integrated tape recorder (or digital recording device) would have made the matter perfect.

Anyway, the ELECTRO ACOUSTIC WORKSTATION (as it is) offers lots of potential in the smallest of spaces. The device is available as stand-alone unit (either fully assembled or as DIY kit), but also as Eurorack module.

“We hope this little machine will help you to engage with physical objects in your surroundings and use new sounds in your music.” (Koma Elektronik)

The FIELD KIT series (besides the Electro Acoustic Workstation, there’s also a FX Version) will definitely contribute to the creation of new sounds. These are small, beautiful and highly useful devices for the experimental electronic musician.

Whether the instruments are used in a normal or experimental way is up to each musician. The limits of what is possible are left to your own imagination.

Here is an example of a rather experimental application of the Koma Field Kit series. Among the protagonists: A Giant Wrench! Feedback noises? Who cares …

All diesen (alten wie neuen) “großartigen” Instrumenten ist Great Synthesizers gewidmet. _________________________________________________________ In 2005 composer Arvo Pärt said: “Playing one tone really well is enough”. In other words, it is sufficient to play one tone 'beautifully'. I agree with that. All musical efforts are focused on the sound itself. Although I studied classical music (piano and drums), it’s the electronic sound that inspires me. Synthesizers are the epitome of new sounds and exciting tonal spheres. Today, many companies produce high-quality - excellent! - synthesizers: Doepfer, Cwejman, MacBeth, Moog, GRP, Synthesizers.com, COTK, Studio Electronics, John Bowen and others. It's their products I'm really interested in ... apart from Vintage Synthesizers, which I have been collecting for 20 years. Subsequent to our former websites Bluesynths and Blogasys, Peter Mahr and I have now created GreatSynthesizers. We hope you like it.
