Back to VINYL: Zero Gravity by Jean-Michel Jarre

Well, to be honest: one reason we love JM Jarre’s new vinyl disc is the synth picture on its cover. The photo shows a GRP A4 (beautiful!) and on the back an ARP 2600 (even better!). Zero Gravity” is a mixture of JM Jarre and Tangerine Dream, the music fresh and cheerful with lots of arpeggios and some dancefloor beats.

Zero Gravity” is taken from the new album “ELECTRONICA 1: The Time Machine Collaborators“. That album was conceived with Jarre’s wish to encompass the last decades of electronic music with the participation of outstanding artists of all generations with whom Jarre feels especially connected with. The album features 15 different collaborators, including Vinca Clarke, John Carpenter, Tangerine Dream, Pete Townshend, Laurie Anderson, and even surprise Lang Lang (a Chinese pianist).

Zero Gravity” has been released in a limited edition of 1000 pieces. A true vinyl, just like in the early days of Jarre … “back to the roots”, so to speak …

All diesen (alten wie neuen) “großartigen” Instrumenten ist Great Synthesizers gewidmet. _________________________________________________________ In 2005 composer Arvo Pärt said: “Playing one tone really well is enough”. In other words, it is sufficient to play one tone 'beautifully'. I agree with that. All musical efforts are focused on the sound itself. Although I studied classical music (piano and drums), it’s the electronic sound that inspires me. Synthesizers are the epitome of new sounds and exciting tonal spheres. Today, many companies produce high-quality - excellent! - synthesizers: Doepfer, Cwejman, MacBeth, Moog, GRP, Synthesizers.com, COTK, Studio Electronics, John Bowen and others. It's their products I'm really interested in ... apart from Vintage Synthesizers, which I have been collecting for 20 years. Subsequent to our former websites Bluesynths and Blogasys, Peter Mahr and I have now created GreatSynthesizers. We hope you like it.
